Vets on Balwyn are committed to promoting both animal safety and responsible pet ownership in the community. As part of our community outreach program, we participate in local preschool and kindergarten visits.

The topics we cover during these visits include:

  • Choosing, preparing for and caring for a new pet
  • A discussion about what animals need to live safe, happy and healthy lives
  • How to ensure childrens’ personal safety when around animals
  • Animal behaviour markers (such as how to tell if a dog is scared or a cat is agitated)

These visits always finish with a question and answer session where students can pick our expert’s brains about any aspect of animal life and pet ownership. The goal of these visits is to provide children with an understanding of how to be safe when around animals as well as what it means to be a responsible pet owner.

  • Whilst most owners understand the impact of their pet's oral health on their general health and quality of life, many may still need clarification on the practical ways to achieve excellent pet dental hygiene.
