FAQs

What age should I get my cat desexed?

Cats can get pregnant from as early as 16 weeks of age – that’s right kittens can have kittens! Talk to our friendly team during their kitten vaccinations about early desexing!

Under Manningham Council regulations, all cats must be confined within their owner’s property boundaries. This can be achieved by keeping your cat indoors at all times, or if your cat is accustomed to outdoor time, by installing a fully enclosed cat run or cat netting/ocelot fencing alongside your existing fencing. These options allow your cat to safely enjoy the outdoors while ensuring compliance with local regulations.

There could be a number of reasons including stress, a dirty box, or something more serious  like a UTI or blockage. Our Vets on Balwyn vets can help you determine if it’s something serious. Chat to us to see if a visit is a must!

It’s completely normal for cats to ingest some hair during their daily grooming, which can sometimes lead to hairballs. These hairballs can get trapped in their system, and vomiting is their way of getting rid of them. To help reduce the frequency of hairball vomiting, we recommend brushing your cat at least three times a week and feeding them a high-fibre dry kibble as part of their diet. However, if your cat is vomiting more than once every few days, it’s a good idea to speak with one of our vets to rule out any underlying issues.

Let’s talk pets

Here’s some extra pet tips and knowledge from Vet Hub Ringwood. Because sharing is caring!

There are three reasons why we recommend a full consultation and health check for every pet at the time of vaccination:
If we surveyed pet owners about potential allergy symptoms in dogs and cats, most would list signs such as recurrent ear infections, generalised itchiness, paw licking, or tummy upset.
Whilst most owners understand the impact of their pet’s oral health on their general health and quality of life, many may still need clarification on the practical ways to achieve excellent pet dental hygiene.
